Google Forms vs forms.app
Google Forms is the default free tool. forms.app is what most teams switch to when "free" stops being enough. We ran the same registration form through both and compared every tier that matters.
Quick verdict
Keep Google Forms for internal team polls, classroom quizzes, and quick surveys where design does not matter and everyone already has a Google account. Choose forms.app when the form faces customers, needs payments or signatures, requires real conditional logic, or must match your brand. For most businesses, forms.app is the better long-term choice; Google Forms wins on zero-cost unlimited volume for internal use.

When Google Forms wins
Google Forms is hard to beat when your entire organization runs on Google Workspace, the survey is internal-only, and you need unlimited responses at $0. Teachers, HR teams running quick pulse checks, and ops leads collecting shift preferences are typical use cases. The automatic Google Sheets connection is genuinely useful — every response lands in a spreadsheet without configuration.
Google Forms also wins when you need zero procurement friction. No new vendor, no credit card, no IT review. If the form will never be seen by a customer and the purple header is acceptable, stay put.
When forms.app wins
forms.app wins the moment the form leaves your organization. Event registrations on your website, client intake forms, product order forms, and NPS surveys all benefit from professional design and features Google Forms simply does not offer. Conditional logic on the free plan means you can show follow-up questions based on answers without paying — something Google Forms only partially supports through section breaks.
Payments are the clearest dividing line. Google Forms cannot collect money. forms.app handles Stripe and PayPal natively, which eliminates the workaround of linking to a separate checkout. For teams that need one tool for surveys, contact forms, and paid registrations, forms.app replaces both Google Forms and a patchwork of add-ons.
Pricing reality check
Google Forms costs nothing. forms.app's free plan includes up to 5 forms, unlimited responses, conditional logic, AI tools, and payments — enough for most small businesses to start without a credit card. Paid plans start around $19/month annually (Basic) to remove branding and unlock 25 forms; Pro at ~$29/month adds unlimited forms — all with unlimited responses.
Migration tip
There is no one-click import from Google Forms to forms.app. Recreating a typical 10-field form takes 10–15 minutes manually, or under 5 minutes using forms.app's AI generator: describe the form in plain English and edit the result. Keep your Google Form live until you have tested the new version and updated all embed links.
